It's hard to find a really good adaptation from one thing to another. There have been few occasions where a film adaptation of a book or a comic book has been successful, and this can be a result of far too many comic book heroes, far too many different ways to interpret them, a combination of both or maybe neither of those things. That being said, the DC cinematic universe seems to be stirring a lot of waves with its fans and in the media, as it can be seen with Arrow's David Ramsey commenting on the end of the sad version of his character as well as the return of the OTA moments and, of course, Spartan vs. Prometheus.
To make it very clear, a lot of things happened during season 5 of Arrow. There were many flashbacks, many twists, and many things that helped explain a lot of what Ollie (the protagonist of the show) had gone through during his time in exile, and what's even more surprising is it just never seems to end. Accoring to IGN, the latest season had quite a lot to do with Bratva and how Ollie got accepted into the Russian mafia, which has made several appearances during a couple of the seasons, including the first season in the scene where Ollie shows the tattoo on his chest. With everything that happened with General Walker and the whole "selling bombs to Markovian terrorists" thing, it helped tie in David Ramsey's character Diggle, who seemed to be going in and out of jail a lot quicker this time around.
With the ins and outs of Diggle in season 5 of Arrow, TV Line did an interview with David Ramsey, revealing some interesting information on how Ramsey felt during all these changes. When asked about the events that occurred, he had mixed feelings but was overall positive about most of them, seeing that he was able to spread out his acting range in a variety of different circumstances. He was able to explain how much the character had evolved over the seasons, and while many instances beat him down to a pulp, the character was able to rise up and adapt.
An example of this would be comparing the first season of the Arrow to the fifth season. Back then, if Diggle had been stuck in a room with General Walker and the same situation still applied, he might have been persuaded to be more violent. Now in season 5 of the Arrow, it might have been more expectant of Diggle to see that he gets behind bars without the brutality of having to bust a few caps in him. The changes of the show's characters are still happening, but Ramsey never forgot about the Original Team Arrow moments, to which the actor looks forward to.
