'The OA' News & Update: Series Renewed For Second Season On Netflix

"The OA" is renewed for a second season by Netflix. Season one concluded eight weeks prior to the renewal of the series.

According to Variety, The OA focuses on Prairie Johnson who is portrayed by Brit Marling. Prairie is a blind girl who has been gone for seven years. She returns to her hometown with her eyesight restored and refuses to speak to anyone about her past.

The only people she shares her past with are four high school kids and a teacher. She shares about her travels, abduction and all the things that she has gone through within the seven years that she has been missing. "The OA" Season 2 is to continue on her story.

TV Guide reports that "The OA" has been a work of Marling and Zal Batmanglij since 2012. It streamed quietly on Netlfix in December last year. The series did not get much promotion when it premiered. However, it still gained viewers and now is on its way to its second season.

"The OA" Season 1 had eight episodes and aside from Brit Marling, the series also starred Alice Krige and Scott Wilson as Prairie's parents according to a report in TV Line. The other actors who play an important part in Prairie's life in the series are Patrick Gibson, Emery Cohen, Phyllis Smith and Jason Isaacs.

Executive producers of "The OA" include Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Sarah Esberg. There is no specific date as of yet on when the series will air. Recently the second season of the series is titled "The OA Part II"

The second season of "The OA" will explore more on the different dimension that had been discussed in the first season. It may be picking up from the events that happened in the first season right away or it may be going on a different way.
