Tom Brady’s jersey which went missing after he won the Super Bowl 51 has been taken care by law enforcement agency. Houston Police and Texas Rangers has joined forces to search for the No. 12 of New England Patriot’s jersey
Houston Police Department has assigned its major offender division to work with the security of NFL to investigate the theft of the jersey according to USA Today. They also work with other local and state agencies. The jersey was missing after Brady took it off after the game on Sunday, Feb. 5.
The Pats won the Super Bowl 51 with 34 - 28 in the most dramatic comeback in the history. They took their fifth Super Bowl championship title with Tom Brady since the 39-year-old quarterback joined the team in 2000.
Brady was crowned as MVP and become the first player who won four Super Bowl MVP titles. He also the first player in the NFL history to win five Super Bowl with the same team. His appearance in Super Bowl 51 was his seventh times which also the most ever for any players in the history of NFL.
Therefore, the jersey which he wore in the game is the most valuable collectible item in the history of NFL. Lieutenant Governor of Texas Dan Patrick understands the value of the jersey, hence according to CNN, he asked Texas Rangers to help searching for the missing jersey. He emphasized that Texas puts a high value on hospitality and football, therefore he would not want to have the historic jersey was missing and stolen in Texas.
“Whoever took this jersey should turn it in,” Lt. Gov. Patrick said Monday, Feb. 6. “The Texas Rangers are on the trail."
Brady acknowledged that after the Super Bowl 51 game ended, he took off his jersey and put it in his bag. However, minutes later the jersey was nowhere to be found. He later realized the jersey has been missing which triggered an investigation from law enforcement agency.
