"John Wick" director Chad Stahelski shares possibilities of a prequel to his hit action movie as well as a nostalgic moment while filming. The 48-year-old director gave some insight on how the "John Wick" films might be able to make a transition to the small screen. "John Wick" had an interesting plot that mostly stems from the main protagonist's dark past.
With that said, fans have been clamoring for a "John Wick" prequel that features how the feared hitman became the man he is today. While Stahelski originally wanted for "John Wick Chapter 2" to be a prequel, it just didn't worked out.
During an interview with Slashfilm, the "John Wick" director explains that doing a prequel "just didn't fit" with how the sequel is going. However, Stahelski mentions that he "basically" has a prequel already written.
The action film director explains that they wanted to wrap up the whole story first before delving into the prequel. Although fans won't likely be seeing it in the third movie, the "John Wick" director is reserving the script for "other aspects of the property."
This means that going for the TV series approach for the prequel is the most likely option Stahelski would consider. The "John Wick" director revealed that Lionsgate is very keen on doing a "John Wick" TV show.
Stahelski shares that using the TV-show platform gives them more ways of expanding the story without being limited to movie time restrictions. Meanwhile, the "John Wick" director also shared another interesting trivia while he was shooting "Chapter 2."
According to EntertainmentWeekly, the former "Matrix" stuntman admitted that he was "geeking out" when shooting the scene featuring Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne. Reeves and Fishburne had a student and master relationship in the "Matrix" film.
The two reunite in "John Wick Chapter 2" and one epic scene had director Stahelski "spaced out." Actor Laurence Fishburne had to interrupt an engrossed Stahelski asking him if he was going to say "cut" after the shoot.
"It's very personal to me, because I spent so much time with these guys", Stahelski added. The "John Wick" director was a stuntman in "The Matrix" and the time he spent with the iconic pair certainly had him emotional upon seeing them reunite in "Chapter 2."
