Prosecutors publish video Justin Bieber failing a sobriety test following legal challenge to state public records law

The Associated Press had tipped the public of a new video clip of "Believe" singer Justin Bieber failing his sobriety test in a Miami jail. The New York Daily News showed screengrabs of the clip, which showed an obviously inebriated Bieber right after his January 23 arrest over allegations of driving under the influence and drag racing.

The footage Miami prosecutors released 10 hours worth of video showing the pop star in jail. The Guardian said that following the footage release were weeks of discussion and review on whether the footage should be shown to the media as Bieber's legal camp claimed that parts of it showed their client in various forms of undress. It has been claimed that four parts of the video shows Bieber urinating on a cup as part of a standard drug test for suspected drunk drivers.

However, the UK newspaper said that most of the video were pretty harmless but damning enough to reject claims of Bieber's camp that the singer was sober at the time of the arrest. At one part of the video, Bieber was seen wobbling while trying to walk in a straight line.

Results of the tests done on Bieber's urine shown traces of marijuana and the antidepressant Xanax aside from alcohol, which were below the state limit, said New York Daily News. Bieber is reportedly facing misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, DUI and driving with a non-valid license after police pulled him over in his Lamborgini rental.

The Guardian said the publication of the footage is in accordance to the public records law of Florida, which allows the media to file a request to view any evidence that could build a criminal case. The UK paper said that the published footage did not include five scenes depicted to be sensitive in nature, of which includes Bieber urinating on a cup. The clips is said to be reviewed by Miami-Dade county judge William Altfield on March 4.
