According to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution report, the bodyguard of pop superstar Justin Bieber was booked on a felony robbery charge following a camera-snatching incident. The report said Hugo Hesny grabbed a photographer's camera worth $10,000 camera just outside of the Funhouse on Roswell Road.
According to Capt. Steve Rose with Sandy Springs police, Bieber and his entourage, which included Hesny, confronted with photographer Jason Winslow, who appeared to be a paparrazo. After the confrontation, Rose said that Winslow was paid by Hesny and Bieber's driver in the paparazzo's car in an adjacent parking lot.
"The security guard and driver followed and then stopped the photographer's car in an adjacent parking lot. The security guard took the camera from the photographer's car and both men left and drove to the home Bieber is renting," Rose has said in an emailed statement.
Hesny was arrested and sued for felony entering auto, which Rose said was upgraded by the Fulton County District Attorney's office to robbery by snatch. AJC said that there was no reason provided by the court on why it upgraded Hesny's charge.
A Fulton County Magistrate Court judge had approved Hesný's $15,000 bond in lieu of his charge. Judge Jessy Lall also issued an order for Hesny to appear in the Fulton County Superior Court on March 12 regarding its hearing on the charge filed against him.
This would not be the first time Hesny had been sought legal actions by paparazzi. AJC said Hesny was also charged with theft and simple battery due to an incident in Miami.
In a June 6 press release from Miami-Dade police, it read, "According to investigators, the victim, Jeffery Binion, was standing on the roadway photographing an artist when four males approached him. One of the subjects, identified as Hugo Hesny, grabbed Binion by the neck and pushed him away. The other subject then took Binion's camera, removed the memory card and returned the camera."
