The LG G6 release date plus a bunch of essential information regarding the next flagship model has surfaced online and it shows that there's lots to look forward to.
The latest model in LG's G series is going to be announced on February 26. The South Korean tech company will be holding a special event a day before the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, Spain.
The event invitation features the tagline "See more, play more." It's highly likely that the "See more" part of the tagline is referring to the G6's large 18:9 ratio display.
According to DigitalTrends, the flagship model is rocking a 5.7 inch screen with a 2,880 x 1,440 pixel resolution. As for the "play more" part it might pertain to what's under the hood of the G6.
However, fans shouldn't expect the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset to be in the G6. The source mentions that the company would rather opt for an older chipset.
For LG, older "proven" chipsets that they can "thoroughly" test is preferred over newer and faster chips. The same source also explains that opting for older chipsets in new flagship models is something that LG has done before.
According to GSMArena, there will also be variants for LG's G6 model. In fact, the tech company has filed trademark applications for a set of smartphone models bearing the G6 line-up name. The first set includes two trademarks namely, G6 Compact and G6 Lite.
These two smartphone variants are most likely lower spec versions of their flagship G6 model. Other trademark names include G6 Hybrid, G6 Sense, G6 Young, G6 Prix, G6 Forte and G6 Fit.
Although the same source mentions that the other trademarked products such as the G6 fit, might not exactly be smartphones as these could be accessory devices that accompany the G6 phone line-up.
A report from PocketLint suggests that the phone might go on sale right after LG's special even in Barcelona. While other rumors are suggesting that the G6 might release on markets sometime in April since previous flagship G models arrived at this time frame. In any case, the LG's special February 26 even will surely provide some clarity on the highly anticipated G6.
