'Empire' Cast Update Includes 'Desperate Housewives' Star Eva Longoria As Corrupt Director

By

The "Empire" cast update will now include Eva Longoria, who will play the role of director of the state but there's a dark twist.

The 41-year-old actress played as a CEO with a troubled past in Gabrielle Solis in the hit TV-series "Desperate Housewives." In the drama series "Empire". Longoria will still play as a person with a high position and power.

However, her character Charlotte Frost is not exactly a typical state gaming commission director. According to DailyNews, Longoria's character is a "force of darkness and corruption."

Frost will pose problems for Terrence Howard's character Lucious Lyon. Longoria's character holds the power to determine if Lyon's Empire expansion plans will succeed or fail.

This scenario will definitely bring some more sizzle to "Empire" season 3 since Frost will appear in several episodes of the show. Meanwhile, before "Empire" even reaches the conclusion of season 3's second half, the series already got renewed for season 4!

According to TheHollywoodReporter, Fox has given "Empire" an early season 4 renewal. The announcement was made during a winter press tour of the Television Critics Association. It's not confirmed if Longoria's Charlotte Frost character will appear on the next season of "Empire."

The series is currently on hiatus and is expected to return on March 22. "Empire" remains as one of Fox's top-rated shows. As a matter of fact, Fox's hip hop drama series had the highest rated debut in years. Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes gave the series an 80 percent rating based on 48 reviews.

Critics are praising the drama series for having an "engrossing" plot and a "top-notch" cast. On top of that, "Empire" has garnered numerous accolades and has won multiple awards such as the BET awards, Critic's Choice Television awards and even Golden Globe awards. Catch the second half of "Empire" season 3 on March 22 starting 9 p.m. onward.
