The upcoming untitled "Han Solo" film gets a comedic teaser from director Christopher Miller while director Rian Johnson reveals his inspiration for "The Last Jedi."
Miller and writer Phil Lord are no strangers when it comes to comedy since the two have worked on films like "The Lego Movie" and "22 Jump Street." With that said, the "Han Solo" film is no exception to their comedic antics.
Miller revealed a teaser on his Twitter showing a clapperboard with the film's working title "Star Wars: Red Cup" filling the lower portion. This comedic nod is accompanied by the caption "Han First Shot", which is another well-known Star Wars joke reference.
Other than the funny teaser, we are yet to see actual footage featuring young Han Solo and Lando. Han Solo will be played by "Beautiful Creatures" actor Alden Ehrenreich while his friend Lando will be played by "Community" star Donald Glover.
According to DigitalSpy, the "Han Solo" movie will have a Western type heist theme. The film's producer Kathleen Kennedy mentioned in an interview that the film is "closer" to a "Western-type feel" as opposed to the usual "Star Wars" Sci-Fi formula.
Meanwhile, another "Star Wars" director reveals his inspiration for the upcoming "Star Wars Episode 8" movie. Director Rian Johnson revealed the three films he used as inspiration for "The Last Jedi."
According to Independent, these three films Johnson mentioned are from movies between the late 40's and early 60's era.
1955 film "To Catch A Thief" was used as inspiration due to its "romantic scale and grandeur." While 1949 World War II film titled "Twelve O'Clock High" and historic action film "Three Outlaw Samurai" were used for "Last Jedi's" action oriented scenes.
"Twelve O'Clock High" featured loads of aerial dogfights that will transpire in the next "Star Wars" film. As for "Three Outlaw Samurai", it will inspire the lightsaber duels and close quarter combat sequences of "The Last Jedi."
"Star Wars: Episode VIII" is set to release by December 15 this year. While the "Han Solo" anthology film still has a long way to go as it's planned for a 2018 release.
