Stephen Cury missed his first game this season in the game against Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, Jan. 29. His stomach flu sidelined him as the Warriors defeated host team 113-111.
Coach Steve Kerr told NBA.com, that the two-time MVP was perfectly fine after the game against LA Clippers on Saturday. Curry led the scoring and rebound for the Warriors with 43 points and 9 rebounds along with 6 assists as they crushed the Clippers 144-98 at the Oracle Arena, San Fransisco.
However as he woke up the next morning, Curry was very ill. Coach Kerr did not have any other option but to sideline him.
"Steph wanted to play, and it didn't make any sense,” coach Kerr said. “Hopefully he can knock this out in the next few days."
Veteran point guard Shaun Livingston played as the starting point guard in the game against Portland Trail Blazers at Moda Arena in Portland, Oregon. He posted 6 points and 3 assists within 23 minutes. The rest of the team continue to deliver the high octane offense and defeated the host team 113-111 as reported by SF Gate.
Kevin Durant posted a double-double with 33 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Klay Thompson with 27 points and center Zaza Pachulia with 14 points. While wing man Andre Iguodala scored 12 points off-the-bench.
Portland Trail Blazers gave a difficult time for the Warriors before the Dubs grabthe win. The game was their fourth game this season, and in the previous three games Warriors won without a significant obstacle. However, without Curry, the Warriors have to rally until the final second of the game.
Golden State Warriors are now 41-7 and lead the Western Conference. While the Blazers rankd in 9th place with 21-28, trailed behind Nuggets with 21-25. Portland Trail Blazers have lost five in their last 10 games.
