Toronto Raptors will lose their shooting guard DeMar DeRozan for two games due to sprain ankle. DeRozan injured his ankle during the Sunday game against Phoenix Suns in Toronto. The Raptors have struggled to return to their form after losing three games straight.
DeRozan injured his ankle after landing on his team mate’s foot, center Jonas Valunciunas in the fourth quarter of the game as reported by CBS Sports. Phoenix Suns won the game 115-103 on Sunday, Jan. 22, giving the Raptors their third consecutive defeat. He tried to overcome the injury but he had to finished the game early after contributing 22 points, four assists and three rebounds in 37 minutes playing time.
The All-Star guard is expected to miss two more games to recover his sprain ankle. They were having a tough time lately to find their rhythm back after losing the game on Wednesday against the Sixers, followed by another loss against Charlotte Hornets and finally losing the game against Phoenix Suns at their own home court Air Canada Center.
The Raptors are currently in trouble with their game after losing three consecutive games. Head coach Dwane Casey admitted that they are in the difficult position as reported by Toronto Star. However, he stressed the important thing is to continue the season.
“We’re going through a tough time. This is part of the NBA,” coach Casey admited.
Toronto Raptors will play against San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, and DeRozan will sit out in the crucial game against one of the strongest team in the Western Conference. The Spurs defeated them 82-110 in the first game at the AT&T Center, San Antonio on Jan. 3. This time they expected to get back at the Spurs at their home stadium in Toronto, but without their All-Star DeRozan, coach Casey must find another gameplay to overcome the Spurs.
