Kim Kardashian West Challenges Trump's Immigration Ban

By

Kim Kardashian West recently posted a tweet, challenging Trump's immigration plan to ban refugees, immigrants, visa holders, and dual citizens from the seven Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East - which he regards as a way to protect the U.S. from terrorism.

The reality TV star's return to social media has taken a political turn over the recent years. Kardashian West has been using her celebrity status to assert her political views to the people in U.S. In July 2016, she supported the giant movement, "Black Lives Matter" following the death of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling who were outrageously shot by the police.

The 36-year-old posted a screenshot of statistics generated by CDC on her Twitter, sarcastically proving that the threat of death by radical Islamic jihad for an American is nowhere comparable to the American-on-American gun violence. She captioned the post "Statistics."

According to the chart, Islamic jihadist immigrants were responsible for only 2 murders per year. Meanwhile, the biggest number in the statistics, 11,737, is the number of Americans that are being shot and killed by their fellow American citizens.

Trump's controversial order of imposing 90-day travel ban for the seven Muslim countries, and the 120-day suspension of refugee admissions into the country, has sparked protests country-wide. The immigration policy has outraged many, including a chorus of celebrities such as Rihanna and Sia, according to the People.com.

Kardashian West, being a descendant of the people who were forced to flee their country, carries some insight into the plight of refugees. Her father, Robert Kardashian, who died in 2003, is a lawyer best known for defending O.J. Simpson - an Armenian American whose grandparents immigrated to the U.S. from their native Armenia during the Russian rule.
