Immigration Order Does Not Include Green Card Holders, Clarifies White House Chief-of-Staff

By

White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said Trump's immigration's executive order excluded the green card holders. He also said the directive was issued to protect the Americans.

Priebus explained the executive order in an interview with NBC News talk's "Meet the Press" as reported by NBC. He said that immigration ban did not affect the green card holder.

"President Trump is not willing to get this wrong," Priebus said. "Which is why he wants to move forward quickly and protect Americans."

Following the signing of executive order on Friday, Jan. 27, the Department of Homeland Security issued an immediate response. President Trump said that his priority in issuing the executive order is to protect and serve American people, as reported by FOX News.

The order suspended all refugees from war-torn countries in the Middle East and temporarily prohibited citizens from Iraq, Iran, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Libya and Yemen to enter the United States.

However, the executive order has sparked a negative response from the Democrats. Senator Diane Feinstein (D) of California said that she would introduce two bills to confront the executive order. The first one is to revoke the order, and the second one is to give Congress greater power to oversee President's authority on immigration.

Other negative response came from U.S. Federal Judge. Judge Ann Donnelly from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York ruled an emergency stay for refugees on Saturday, Jan. 28, blocking part of the President Trump executive order. Afterward, Judge Leonie Brinkema from the Eastern District of Virginia issued a temporary restraining order, preventing the federal government from deporting immigrant with valid document.
