White House News & Updates: President Trump Next Executive Orders Target National Security

By

President Donald Trump is aiming to enhance the U.S. national security with several security directives. He is reported to consider some priorities on the matter to improve it.

One of the measures is to increase the security is to limit the number of refugees admission from terror-prone regions such as Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Yemen and Somalia as reported by Huffington Post. The security measure is aimed to limit the numbers of radical Muslim terrorists from the region to enter the United States.

In his inauguration speech, Trump has mentioned that his administration will combat radical Islam terrorism, a term which was never mentioned by former President Obama. The executive order will deal on the guideline for his administration of immigrants on the US soil.

However, two analysts disagree with President Trump's approach. Executive Director of Center for Migration Studies Donald Kerwin and senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations Edward Alden in their column in Washington Post, questioned the effectiveness of the President's directive. They argue that the action taken by President Trump will make America be more prone to terrorism.

Both Kerwin and Alden suggested the cooperation between American Muslims and FBI be implemented as an alternative. However, they forgot that many latest terrorist attack in the United States were conducted by American Muslims.

The latest one was the attack in Columbus, Ohio on Nov. 28, 2016. When an Ohio State University student named Abdul Razak Ali Artan rammed his car into his fellow student on campus. His car hit the barrier, so he went out of the car and hacked the bystanders by knife, injuring 11 people.

Prior to that, two terrorist attacks from American Muslims were conducted on the same day in September 2016. On Sept. 17, a naturalized U.S. citizen Ahmad Khan Rahami planted the bomb in Chelsea, New York which exploded and injured 29 people. While in Minnesota, Dahir Ahmed Adan attacked people in the mall with a steak knife, injuring nine people police officer shot him dead.
