Running back Adrian Peterson stated his preference to stay in Minnesota Vikings. But he also considers New York Giants, Houston Texans or Tampa Bay Buccaneers as his destination.
The 31-year old Peterson said that he prefer to stay with the Vikings as reported by ESPN. But he also stated that he may want to go to either New York, Houston or Florida if the Vikings decides to let him go.
"I see myself finishing off in purple,” he said in the ESPN First Take. “Hopefully we can work things out."
He was selected as seventh pick by Minnesota Vikings in the 2007 NFL Draft after finishing his NCAA tenure with the University of Oklahoma. During his freshmen year in 2004 with the Sooners he set the NCAA rushing record for the freshman with 1,925 yards.
Peterson is known as one of the best running back in the history of NFL. Soon after he was drafted by the Vikings, he set the rushing record in a single game with 296 yards on Nov. 4, 2007 against San Diego Chargers. In his 10 years wearing the purple color of Minnesota Vikings, he averages 4.9 yards of rushing per game and accumulating more than 11,000 yards.
Unfortunately, after 10 years in the league he started to fade as many faster running backs come to NFL. After his contract will expire after this season, he expected to stay with the Vikings. But he also aimed for other teams.
Nevertheless, his intention to play for New York may not reciprocate. According to New York Post,, Peterson and the Giants are imperfect match. It should be better for New York Giants to get another running back, rather than the injury-prone running back which soon turn 32 years old.
Especially the Giants have $23,914,686 in cap space, and Peterson may asked for around $18 million in contract of the former most respected running back in NFL.
