Jeremy Lin has had a very forgettable first half of the season in his first year with the Brooklyn Nets. He has only played in 12 games this season because of a nagging left hamstring injury. He recently revealed that he has recovered from it and he is ready to play again.
In an interview with Chinese News channel CCTV NBA Prime Time, Lin said that he is ready to return in a week or two. He added that he could be playing at the moment if it weren't for the Nets' precautions. He tweaked his left hamstring on December 26, 2016 against the Charlotte Hornets.
Lin first injured his hamstring in the fourth game of the season against the Detroit Pistons. In his absence, the Nets have compiled a losing record and they badly need him on the court. However, Brooklyn's medical staff is very precautious about his injury.
"I love Jeremy's competitiveness. That's Jeremy being competitive, that's him wanting to be out there to help his teammates. That's the way I look at it. We'll continue to evaluate him. He's progressing nicely," Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson told The New York Post.
"He understands that our performance team and our doctors, that's who I'm listening to," he added.
The Nets' next game is against the Toronto Raptors on Friday, January 13 at the Air Canada Centre, per NBA.com. Lin will likely miss the game as the Nets continue to monitor his condition. In 12 games this season, the Harvard alum is averaging 13.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists.
The 28-year-old point guard signed a three-year, $36 million deal with the Nets last summer. He was specifically brought in by Coach Atkinson because he fits his system. Lin and Atkinson previously worked together in 2012 when they were both part of the New York Knicks.
Lin became famous in 2012 after starting for the Knicks due to many injuries. He went on to perform very well and his incredible seven-game run was eventually called "Linsanity.
