Phil Bryant, Mississipi Governor, signed a state senate bill to defund Planned Parenthood to stop state funding to its abortion clinic. Governor Bryant expressed his happiness as he signed the bill on Tuesday. The bill was written by Sen. Joey Fillingane.
In his twitter, Governor Bryant expressed his happiness as reported by WDAM TV News, "Happy to sign Senate Bill 2238. Taxpayer dollars should not fund abortions."
Planned Parenthood clinic in the state of Mississipi located in Hattiesburg. Although, Planned Parenthood insisted that its Mississipi clinic does not offer abortions, state Sen. Fillingane said that any monetary support from the state fund would still be supporting abortions.
According to Life News, the bill was modeled after Texas legislation. The bill was introduced after an undercover video in 2015 revealed a shocking footage conducted by Planned Parenthood clinics. Pro-life legislators witnessed in that video how Planned Parenthood was selling aborted babies' body parts.
Several states took immediate action including Mississipi legislators by introducing the Senate Bill 2238 to defund Planned Parenthood. The bill prohibited tax dollars through Medicaid to go to groups performing elective abortions,
"You are the company you keep and by Mississippi reimbursing Planned Parenthood through Medicaid, we are keeping that company," said state Sen. Brice Wiggins in the legislative session in support to the bill.
Following the gruesome video, several states have passed legislation to defund Planned Parenthood abortion clinic and business. Prior to Mississipi, Ohio become the 10th state to end state funding to Planned Parenthood. While other states are in process to pass similar legislation.
The exposed video showed how Planned Parenthood treat the aborted baby and selling their body part has shocked the entire Americans. In total, there are 12 videos showing how Planned Parenthood clinics across the nations selling aborted baby's body parts, from lung, head, lung and even a fully intact aborted babies. The video also revealed how the doctors who worked in the clinic showed made a joke about aborted babies and their body parts.
The abortion specialist Planned Parenthood in its advocay as reported by Life Site claimed the bill violated federal law. The abortion giant wrote in its points to supporters to sue the bill.
Planned Parenthood was originated in 1916 as a birth control clinic established in Brooklyn, New York. Founded by Margaret Sanger, the clinic is the first clinic in America that offer birth control and contraception to women. Throughout its journey, Planned Parenthood had been involved with many controversies surrounding its practice, such as eugenics, abortion and its sales of aborted baby body parts.
Missisipi became the 11th states to defund Planned Parenthood. On Tuesday, Mississipi Governor Phil Bryant signed a state senate bill to defund Planned Parenthood to stop state funding to its abortion clinic.
