Judge Expunges Kanye West's Conviction to Battery Charge Clearing Rapper's Criminal Record

Rapper Kanye West's criminal record has been cleared after his conviction for beating paparazzi was expunged by a judge. The rapper filed a request on March, seeking to remove the said conviction from his record.

According to Daily News, a federal judge in California granted West's request to clear his convicted misdemeanor battery charge for attacking a paparazzi. His record was completely expunged on Monday. The incident happened three years ago outside the LAX airport in July.

In 2014, West pleaded no contest to the charge. An additional charge of attempted grand theft in connection to attacking paparazzi Daniel Ramos was also dismissed by the court. He was placed on a probation for 2 years, forced to enter anger management classes, and ordered to pay for the paparazzi's camera equipment damages.

Ramos was outside the said international airport when he tried to take pictures that caught West's attention, the Epoch Times reported. "What you're trying to do is get me in trouble, so I step out and have to pay you like $250,000," West said to the photographer before he grabbed his camera.

Aside from the probation, West was also ordered to complete 250 hours of community service. His grand theft charge was dismissed in return of a plea deal. Ramos was not pleased of the sentencing because he want the rapper to be jailed for the assault. "I believe that if I did what he did to me, I would have been put behind bars," he said.

The Gossip cop reported that his case with Ramos has been settled with an undisclosed settlement. However, it reportedly includes an apology from Kim Kardashian's husband.

West, 38, has stayed out of trouble since his conviction, devoting his time to students at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College, where he instructed students about the fashion industry.
