Hall of Famer baseball star Cal Ripken Jr. and his wife decided to end their marriage life together. The high profile couple, known for being private over their life from the public, finalized their divorce in a federal courtroom in Baltimore.

According to CBS Baltimore, Cal Ripken Jr. and Kelly Ripken, who have been together for almost three decades, have had their divorce official in Baltimore County on Thursday. "Kelly and Cal Ripken were divorced and Kelly has been a great mother to two fabulous children and a wonderful, faithful wife for the duration of the parties' relationship, which lasted more than 30 years," according to the statement issued by Sanford Ain, Kelly's representing lawyer.

John Maroon, the baseball star's publicist, has not yet commented regarding the divorce; however, he confirmed that the divorce was official. Cal and Kelly Ripkens first met at nightclub in Cockeysville back in the early 80's and had been together for 29 years.

Cal, who had played with impressive 2,632 consecutive games, earned an estimated $75 million throughout the years of his baseball career. Daily Mail reported that the Ripkens, who have two adult children, did not disclose the terms of the divorce settlement. Kelly has also asked the media privacy for her and her children regarding the matter.

According to USA Today, one year separation is required for the couple before the divorce proceedings commence under the Maryland law. Ripken is one of the few legends to play for the same team over the course of his entire career. He joined the Orioles in 1981, stayed with the team until the end of the 2001 season, and captured the World Series in 1983.

His number, eight, has been retired by the organization and hangs at Camden Yards. Ripken's late father, Cal Ripken Sr., also worked for 36 years in the Baltimore Orioles organization as a coach and manager.
