American actor Cameron Thor was sentenced to serve six years in jail over his lewd conduct with a 13-year-old teenager. A Los Angeles jury convicted the acting coach on charges of sexual misconduct with a minor last year.
Aside from the six-year prison sentence, the 56-year-old former "Jurassic Park" actor was also ordered by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Martin Herscovitz to register under the sex offenders list, the Los Angeles Times reported. Last August, Thor was convicted to one count of lewd act on minor as jurors found him guilty of molesting the victim.
Prosecutors said Thor had sexually assaulted the teen, who was then 13 years old, when the incident happened on a car in Santa Monica Mountains in 2009. Thor was arrested and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department charhed him on the said assault.
According to the victim, identified as Jordyn Ladell, Thor forced her into a sexual act after they smoked pot inside the car. The actor acknowledged smoking pot with Ladell; however, he denied the sexual assault, Deadline Hollywood cited. Judge Martin Herscovitz's ruling stated Thor took advantage of the victim's "vulnerability" and her family's dysfunction.
Despite the ruling, his defense attorney, Mark Geragos, firmly believe on his client's innocence and is launching an appeal. "In this case, with all due respect to the court, they (the jury) got it wrong this time," Geragos stated.
Ladell, now 20, had been a victim of sexual assault twice as well as cyber bullying. She spoke at the court regarding the death threats she and her family received after the guilty ruling, the Hollywood Reported reported.
Thor took the role of Lewis Dodgson in 1993's "Jurassic Park". He also starred in "A Few Good Men," "Hook" and "Curly Sue." He recently worked as an acting coach and managed his own studio, the Carter Thor Studio, with his partner. They offer cold reading classes, comedy workshops and teen classes.
