Countries such as Indonesia, India and Philippines are only some of the Asian territories where Pentagon allegedly sent planes or boats to challenge territorial claims. The US military carried out freedom of navigation operations against thirteen countries in 2015, in which China is considered as one of the most prominent ones.
According to Brief Report, China tops the US list of countries that is involved with freedom of navigation operations due to what is perceived as excessive claims to maritime and airspace jurisdiction. The Pentagon declared the said habit of China, which, at some point, affects the neighboring countries.
As per Daily Read List, the defense department officially carried out multiple freedom of navigation operations not just for China but also for the likes of India, Iran, Libya, Indonesia as well as Malaysia, the Maldives, Oman, the Philippines and Vietnam. As for the operations targeting Chinese claims, the Pentagon then challenged the Chinese jurisdiction in the airspace above its declared maritime "exclusive economic zone".
The Guardian delivered that the restrictions which were attempted to be imposed on aircraft flying through an air defense identification zone off China's coast were also viable to the said challenge. It can be identified that Beijing has become immensely sensitive about the US ship voyages and aircraft flights challenging maritime claims in the South China Sea, in which Beijing themselves has been reclaiming land for room to build artificial islands.
The Chinese territories have continued to claim lands around the nearby areas in which their country lies. As of late, US has dealt with such territorial controversies, and the aforementioned Asian countries are no exception to the said legalities, especially those being allied.
As general information, China's massive coverage somewhat validates them ownership of some pieces of land, however, majority of which are still up for discussion by the country's leaders.
