UFC Brazilian Mixed Martial Artist Diego Brandao Arrested and Charged Over Assault of a Strip Club Employee

Brazilian UFC Fighter, Diego Brandao has been arrested over alleged assault to an employee of a strip club in New Mexico. A legal complaint following the said incident has been filed in Metropolitan Court.

Diego Brandao, a featherweight fighter in "The Ultimate Fighting Championship", was arrested Friday, after an argument with the strip club, Knockouts' DJ on the night of Thursday, according to Bleacher Report. Brandao, left the club shortly, however, he was not allowed to re-enter, in which he allegedly force his way to enter by throwing punches to the DJ and other employees.

He later left for the second time and returned with a handgun. The legal complaint against him stated, Brandao is accused of pointing a gun at a patron and an employee before striking the employee in the face with the weapon.

The 28-year-old Brazilian mixed martial artist has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault and willful assault with a deadly weapon over the incident in the Albuquerque strip club, The 42 reported.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship officials have issued a statement regarding Brandao's arrest. "We are aware that UFC featherweight Diego Brandao was arrested Friday following an altercation at a business establishment in Albuquerque, N.M. We are in the process of gathering more information at this time," MMAJunkie quoted.

Brandao was booked in Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center. He was released the next day after he bailed out for $15,000. He is also scheduled to appear on a Tuesday hearing at the Nevada State Athletic Commission in Las Vegas over his failed drug test due to traces of marijuana metabolite. He received a temporary suspension.

Trained in Albuquerque's Jackson-Wink MMA gym, Brandao has a professional record of 20-11. He lost his last fight on January in Las Vegas, Nevada at UFC 195 via a third round triangle choke to fellow featherweight Brian Ortega.
