'How To Train Your Dragon 3' is reportedly aiming for a PG-13 rating as revealed by director Dean DeBlois. It is scheduled to be released on June 2018.
According to Rotoscoopers, the third and final installment in the popular animated film series by Dreamworks is aiming for a friendly PG-13 rating.
Director Dean DeBlois will be returning to helm the upcoming fantasy-adventure film after directing the original 'How To Train Your Dragon' and its sequel 'How To Train Your Dragon 2'. During an exclusive interview with Variety, he admitted that a final script was in order.
He said, "This is the final film in the trilogy and quite possibly the last time I will be involved with the franchise on this level, so I wanted to draft a script that I felt was true to the spirit of the trilogy and was the right way to end it."
When asked about why his third film would stray from the previous PG rating, he replied that he had no intention to do so when he was drafting the storyline. The filmmaker explained that he needed to follow-through with a story he envisioned and pitched to DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg.
DeBlois said, "There was no way that I could betray that... I have a great creative relationship with Jeffrey, but I also understand that he has a studio to run. But for him to let me make the movie I wanted to make was truly a pioneering moment, because nobody else is doing it."
According to Movie News Guide, DeBlois hinted that the upcoming film will be the conclusion to Hiccup's coming-of-age story. He said, "Both he and Toothless are now chiefs of their respective tribes, and it's a dueling story where you have both characters trying to do what's right for their kind, and an eventual outcome where Hiccup is able to stand on his own."
The series of films were loosely based on the popular children's book series of the same name created by British author Cressida Cowell. DeBlois revealed that the last film in the trilogy will be where the books begin.
According to IMDB, 'How To Train Your Dragon 3' is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 29, 2018. It will feature the return of Jay Baruchel as Hiccup, Gerard Butler as Stoick the Vast, Cate Blanchett as Valka, Jonah Hill as Snotlout Jorgenson, Kristen Wiig as Ruffnut Thorston and T.J. Miller as Tuffnut Thorston.
'How To Train Your Dragon 3' is an upcoming animated film by DreamWorks Animation. It follows the adventures of a young Viking teenager named Hiccup and his relationship with a dragon named Toothless.
