‘Star Trek Beyond’: Two new alien cameos teased; Justin Lin hosts guessing game for famous faces behind mystery characters

By

'Star Trek Beyond' recently teased two new cameos. Director Justin Lin is currently hosting a contest for audiences who could guess the famous faces behind the mystery characters.

According to Game Spot, Lin tweeted a new image from the filming set of his upcoming science-fiction adventure film hinting that the two new alien characters are famous actors making a cameo. However, he didn't specify who they were. Lin's accompanying blog post suggested that he worked with the actors before he got started on 'Star Trek Beyond'.

He posted, "Here I am hanging with two of my favorite people to ever work with... I know this will probably be a tough one since the casting of these two actors hasn't been announced yet and you won't find them listed on IMDb. So here's a hint--I've worked with them both before STB."

Lin is currently hosting a contest for fans who could guess the actors' identity. The blog post revealed that the winners will receive an official 'Star Trek Beyond' t-shirt as well as an exclusive signed poster. It was revealed that some people have already managed to guess correctly and that Lin will announce the two actors soon afterwards.

It was speculated that the two characters may possibly be Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Kim Kold, Danny Pudi or Sung Kang. It was suggested by Screen Rant that these actors have collaborated with Lin in previous films such as the 'Fast and the Furious' franchise or in the 'True Detective' television series.

Lin posted the photograph to mark the pre-anniversary of Zefram Cochrane's flight aboard his Phoenix, an experimental warp drive spaceship.

Zefram is a fictional character in the 'Star Trek' franchise created by Gene L. Coon. Actor Glenn Corbet portrayed Zefram in the 1967 episode 'Metamorphosis'. James Cromwell later took on the role in succeeding feature films 'Star Trek: First Contact' and 'Star Trek: Enterprise'.

'Star Trek Beyond' is an upcoming science-fiction adventure film directed by Justin Lin with a screenplay prepared by Simon Pegg, Doug Jung, Roberto Orci, John D. Payne and Patrick McKay. It is currently in post-production ahead of its scheduled release date on July 22, 2016.
