Five Nights at Freddy's: Release date this 2016 possible; Gil Kenan teases inclusion of 'Bite of 87' event?

By

Scott Cawthon's popular point-click game, Five Nights at Freddy's is set to have its own big screen iteration. As the wait continues for official updates, director Gil Kenan teased photo updates on the production via social media, while speculations continue that the film might be headed for release this year.

Kenan has been teasing fans through social media about what to expect from the upcoming horror flick. He has been hinting about the film, mostly by posting photos of what seemed to be animatronics, the most recent of which is a photo of an animatronic head. As reported by Vine Report, Kenan captioned the photo intriguingly with "Watch that thumb."

However, when asked about what the photo was, Kenan gave a more general but also humorous answer. "from today's NYT article about STEM education..." he responded. Game franchise creator Scott Cawthon previously revealed that the movie will be scary but also relatable for the fans.

"The story really lends itself to being a movie, and it taps into a largely unexplored niche of horror that a lot of people will be able to relate to," Cawthon said as reported by Parent Herald. The games creator is also working with the film's creative team to make sure that it sticks to the roots of the games.

Although fans were left confused as to the real reason for the photo, several speculations have been prompted stating that Five Nights at Freddy's could feature the popular event in the game called "Bite of 87" where an animatronic bit the head of the child.

According to Ecumenical News, rumors also suggest that the photo could mean that new animatronics could be employed since the it was a human head that resembled the animatronic in the photo. It is also speculated that the film could be released within this year, although the official release date is yet to be announced.

The upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's movie is expected to feature practical animatronics rather than CGI as Kenan is aiming to make them even more frightening. Production for the flick began last year, but its official release date is yet to be announced.
