Donald Trump’s Campaign Backs Down From Threatened Lawsuit Over Delegates

By

Donald Trump is known to have sued many people in the past who's tried to degenerate his life and now, the presidential candidate has threatened other delegates through social media.

According to Time, Donald Trump sent a tweet on Sunday saying 'Lawsuit is coming.' Trump's tweet allegedly rooted from the organized effort by the rival candidates to game state selections rules and undermine his delegate hand. Due to this, Trump is threating to sue the votes ahead of a potentially contested convention. In a tweet, he summarized his saying with "Just to show you how unfair Republican primary politics can be, I won the State of Louisiana and get less delegates than [Texas Sen. Ted] Cruz."

CNN wrote the story behind this threatened lawsuit after Trump beaten out Cruz in the March 5 contest with 3.6% more votes. Under party rules, the pair each won 18 delegates but it is stated that Cruz's campaign is using its organization to pressure more than 10 delegates into his camp. Meanwhile, Cruz's campaign hit back to Trump through the same social media. Ron Nehring, national spokesman for Cruz, said"maybe your time is better spent reading rules than sending hate-tweets."

However, the real estate giant's campaign has dissed the threat after less than 24 hours as reported by NBC 26. Barry Bennett said the candidate didn't mean a lawsuit with the court of law but it is more about his intentions to bring the case to the Republican National Committee. The committee hears the allegations and complaints over allocation and selection of delegates.

Such scenario hasn't happened since 1976 when Gerald Ford managed to gain superiority against Ronald Reagan.

In retaliation, delegate Ted Cruz said on Monday "you know what, who cares, I'm almost amused when Donald doesn't know what to do and threatens a lawsuit," in his news conference in Wisconsin.
