Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales adds Paul McCartney to cast; Pick-up shots to be filmed in Vancouver

Johnny Depp is set to reprise his character as the adorable Captain Jack Sparrow in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Although filming has long finished for the project, new details suggest that music icon Paul McCartney has officially jumped on board for a currently unknown role.

After The Rolling Stones' Keith Richards starred as Jack Sparrow's father in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Disney is looking at another legend to appear in the franchise. As reported by Independent, The Beatles' Paul McCartney is set to make a cameo appearance in the film in a major extra set-piece scene.

According to Ecumenical News, "pick-up" shots are also set to be filmed in Vancouver, Canada next month which is rumored to be used for the production delays that the film underwent during filming last year. However, Disney has not officially revealed what the extended filming will be for and which characters in the franchise will appear in the shoot.

Franchise star Johnny Depp was previously involved in an accident while filming, which caused the production to shut down while he was recovering. But filming eventually resumed soon after and was completed last year.

The fifth film in the franchise will center on everybody's favorite down on his luck pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow as he tries to find the mythical Trident of Poseidon which gives its possessor total control of the sea. According to Day Herald, the upcoming film will bring back the charm that captured fans in the franchise's first film and change to add more excitement to the tale of the adorable pirate.

Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg from script by Jeff Nathanson. Aside from Depp's Jack Sparrow, the film will also feature the return of Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, as well as the introduction of Brendan Thwaites' Henry, and Kaya Scodelario's Carina Smyth. It is set to hit theaters on May 26, 2017.
