The older sister of the Republican U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump, Maryanne Trump Barry, has received a threatening letter on Friday. Authorities said the threat letter was sent a day after the GOP delegate leader's son received a letter with white powder.
Maryanne Trump Barry, 78, who was a respected federal appeals court judge, received the said letter in Philadelphia, Friday, according to Newser. The threat mail contains a demand to withdraw from the Republican race for the presidential nomination, which is also similar to Donald Trump's third son's. Eric Trump, 32, received the threatening letter ahead, on Thursday, a mail containing a white powder, and a demand that the billionaire Republican front-runner to drop his White House bid or his family would be harmed.
A test was run to the said powder and found that the substance was not hazardous, International Business Times reported. According to FBI, they are aware of the incident and they are cooperating with the United States Secret Service and U.S. Marshals Service to investigate. However, it is still not yet determined if the threatening mails were sent by similar sender.
The 78 year old judge is the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit, USA Today reported. Barry Trump has not participated in Trump campaign. Trump's GOP rival, Ted Cruz denounced the judge as a "radical pro-abortion extremist" last month when Trump joked that he would consider appointing her to the Supreme Court and for her ruling to ban abortion in New Jersey.
She was appointed by Ronald Reagan, promoted by Bill Clinton and is a "moderate-conservative Republican centrist." Her brother, Donald Trump, is currently the only GOP candidate to have Secret Service protection. Democratic candidates, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, have security details, but Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Ted Cruz do not, according to a Secret Service spokesman.
