'Wonder Woman' is an upcoming action-adventure standalone film starring Gal Gadot in the lead role. The Israeli actress and model admitted that she almost suffocated in her first costume fitting as the titular character. Director Zack Snyder of 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' revealed more details on Gadot's role in his upcoming film.
Gadot recently revealed during an interview on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' that her first costume fitting for 'Wonder Woman' wasn't exactly a comfortable experience. According to a video posted on The Wall Street Journal, the 30-year old model and actress said that she almost fainted trying to fit into the tiny Wonder Woman costume that was prepared for her. She also admitted that die-hard fans of the original comic book heroine criticized her new costume as well as her figure.
According to Yahoo! TV, the new Wonder Woman costume is a far cry from the iconic red-white-blue Americana costume made popular by Lynda Carter in the television series 'Wonder Woman' that ran from 1975 to 1979. The series was regarded as one of the most successful attempts to adapt the DC character for mainstream media. Carter's portrayal of Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman greatly influenced later publications of the comic books.
Gadot will make her on-screen debut in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) in Zack Snyder's upcoming action-adventure film 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'. The film will feature the three most popular heroes in the Justice League, namely Gadot's Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill's Superman and Ben Affleck's Batman. The film is scheduled to debut in theaters on March 25, 2016.
Snyder admitted that he knew Wonder Woman was one of the most recognizable and one of the most powerful female superheroes in the original DC comic books. He hinted that he would take Gadot's character and make her equal in strength and power to her male counterparts in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'.
According to Today Online he said, "The one thing that Wonder Woman does get the opportunity to do, because she's not as deeply intertwined in the story, is the cool stuff... Like when you just get to show up and be cool, that's pretty much what she gets to do."
'Wonder Woman' is an upcoming superhero film directed by Patty Jenkins based on the screenplay by Jason Fuchs. It will be the first female-fronted standalone film in the DCEU and is scheduled to be released on June 23, 2017.
