Microsoft is now accepting pre-orders of the Microsoft Lumia 650 in the U.S. after several delays. Preorders for the dual-SIM version of the Windows 10 budget smartphone in the U.S. start at $199 and will ship by April 1.
The Microsoft Lumia 650 has been recognized worldwide as one of the best Windows 10 Mobile devices. However, it was only previously available in markets outside America. Apparently, Microsoft delayed the U.S. launch due to last minute software/firmware issues, as reported by Lawyer Herald.
Current reports said that Microsoft has confirmed the release of Windows 10 Mobile. Windows Phone 8.1-powered handsets from companies such as Samsung, HTC, Huawei, and more will get an OTA firmware update of Windows 10 Mobile. Furthermore, Microsoft also confirmed that some Lumia phones would be the first to receive the Windows 10 Mobile update.
Tech Times reported that the Microsoft Lumia 650 with Windows 10 Mobile smartphone is now officially available in the U.S. and Canada. The Microsoft Lumia 650 is rumored to be available in Cricket Wireless in America, but no specific details are available at this point. However, Microsoft accepts preorders for the unlocked, dual-SIM version of the Lumia 650 with Windows 10 for $199. The smartphone is scheduled to be shipped by April 1.
According to Neowin, the Microsoft Lumia 650 with Windows 10 Mobile went on sale in the UK at the price of £159.99, SIM-free and unlocked. However, several retailers, such as Carphone Warehouse, reduced their pricing to around £119.99, with PAYG deals from Vodafone. Customers can still opt to buy the handset and use a different SIM without any problems.
The Lumia 650 may not be the best Microsoft flagship device but it is one of the most affordable, entry-level smartphone in the Windows 10 lineup. The Microsoft Lumia 650 aims to deliver the latest Windows 10 Mobile to customers with a tight budget. The Lumia 650 smartphone also comes with the most popular Microsoft apps such as OneDrive, Outlook, the Office suite, Cortana, and more. However, the device does not support Windows 10's Continuum.
Customers who are interested to have the Lumia 650 can preorder directly from the Microsoft Store. It is also worth noting that the Lumia 650 is compatible with GSM carriers. Lastly, it was reported that preorders for the Microsoft Lumia 650 will soon be available in Mexico too.
