FOX reporter Erin Andrews gets $55 million after jurors’ verdict in peephole video trial

By

Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews has won the case against West End Hotel Partners and her stalker over nude videos posted online in 2009. The jury of the Nashville trial has given her millions following the damages the video has caused.

According to Yahoo, Erin Andrews is now getting $55 million in the lawsuit she filed against the hotel of Nashville Marriott and Michael David Barrett. Initially, Andrews asked $75 million in her civil lawsuit for the peephole video recorded in her hotel room by Barrett which he posted online back in 2009. The jury decided that Barrett holds 51% of the liability which he's ordered to pay $28 million while the hotel is being held responsible with 49% or $26 million.

Previously, Barrett has pleaded guilty in 2009 and was sentenced for 30 months in prison as reported by Page Six. Barrett covertly doctored the peephole, allowing the stalker to record atleast 4 and half minutes of Andrews being nude. Andrews kept the management responsible for confirming to Barrett that Andrews was within the hotel and allowing him to book a room next to hers without informing the reporter. Andrews took the stand for two days and tearfully said "I wanted to be respected, I just wanted to be the girl next door who loved sports. Now I'm the girl with the hotel scandal. It's embarrassing."

Nonetheless, Profootballtalk wrote that if the verdict stands, hotel owners could eventually declare bankruptcy or even just hand the keys to the hotel to Andrews since the lawyers didn't manage to keep the Marriott corporate parent in the case. Moreover, the stalker;s share could be extracted from his real estate holdings and other belongings but he would have difficult time in using his insurance coverage as payment.

Meanwhile, following the verdict, Andrews said in social media that she's been thankful to the support she received especially from the people of Nashville.
