Xiaomi has unveiled its flagship handset Redmi Note 3 in the second largest smartphone market, India. Tagged at Rs 9,999, this device is deemed affordable with amazing specifications and features.
According to The Indian Express, after Xiaomi has launched the Mi 4i last year, this is technically the first new smartphone that the Chinese start-up has brought in as Redmi Note Prime, Redmi 2 Prime, were only upgrades to older devices. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 will go on sale on March 9 and be initially sold at Mi.com and Amazon.com. But it is also slated to be available later on all other platforms like Snapdeal and Flipkart, and offline as well.
When it comes with the features and specifications, The Hindu noted that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 weighs 164g and measures only 8.65mm at its thickest point. This smartphone supports 5V/2A Qualcomm Quick Charge technology, charging up to 50 per cent in one hour and taking only three hours for a full charge. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 arrives sporting a 16-MP rear-facing camera, which has dual ISPs for more powerful post-processing of photos. Meanwhile, its front snapper is armed with 5-MP sensor.
Additionally, Android Central stated that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 sports a metal bezel with a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD display. This flagship smartphone from the Chinese tech giant is powered by a Snapdragon 650 SoC with four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.4GHz, and two newer Cortex A72 cores at 1.8GHz. It has a microSD card slot for memory expansion.
The Redmi Note 3 has support for LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.1. It is powered by a 4000mAh battery and it is the first Xiaomi device to sport a fingerprint sensor at the back. On the software front, it is running on the latest version of MIUI 7 running on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes in two variants: a model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal memory for Rs 11,999 ($176), and a base model with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory for Rs 9,999 ($146). The Redmi Note 3 will be assembled in India under the government's Make in India initiative.
Aside from the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, the Chinese smartphone maker also announced its Xiaomi Mi 5 in China which will be released in the Indian market soon.
