Android 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date for Sony Xperia Z5 Phones Teased to Arrive ‘in the Coming Weeks’

By

Sony had officially teased on Twitter last February 22 about the release date of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Sony Xperia Z5 phones, which was slated to receive the update 'in the coming weeks'. The company revealed it is working out the Marshmallow update.

Sony Xperia Z5 phones are expected to receive the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the coming weeks as revealed by the Japanese giant earlier this week. In a previous report, Sony UK already revealed on Twitter as well that Marshmallow will come to the device on March 7.

Last year, Sony made an announcement to release update to this device along with some others by the first quarter of 2016. Despite many rumors of moving the official roll-out to next quarter, Sony was firm on its promise to deliver target within the given timeframe. The company was notorious back in 2014 for announcing a month for software release but to no avail. However, March 7 is too specified to be a joke.

According to a report from the Xperia Blog, a new firmware has already been certified which makes it a stronger evidence that the company is really working towards the release of the software.

As known by many, Marshmallow features a new notification area, native fingerprint support, more comprehensive Android Pay, better app permissions and app links, simplified volume slide, floating window for text selection, custom Chrome tabs, system user interface tuner, RAM memory manager, USB Type-C and USB 3.1 support, screenshots options, microSD support, aps and settings backup, Google settings and Direct share.

The notification becomes more convenient with Marshmallow. Home to settings and alerts, users have the option now to organize all these through this section. On top of that, the notification also has a few tweaks. It still works with the two-step process. With one slide down, notifications will show up. Another slide down expands the area adding the Quick settings menu. The button for dismiss running apps looks quite different now. The priority notification settings is now in the Quick settings.
