Developer Bungie with its publisher Activision have now confirmed the development of Destiny 2, the next installment to the game series, is slated to be released next year. Hence, this recent news started to brew speculations from fans and game pundits alike online including some leaks on the details that maybe worth to look into.

Destiny 2 was already long rumoured within the gaming world even before the release of the game's The Taken King expansion launched last September. But the latest financial earnings report from publisher Activision has made the sequel official and that it is coming in 2017.

Talking of leaks, the follow-up to the hugely popular first-person shooter game is recently tipped to get 'Shattered Suns' as moniker.

As reported by Tech Insider, an industry follower revealed in another post from an unnamed source alleged that Bungie's top-tier title will be known as 'Destiny 2: The Shattered Suns.;

Courtesy of fresh set of Reddit thread, the purported leak cited that the new title will feature returning characters from the predecessor game and the plot will revolve around Osiris and his journey. Additional details from the said leak claimed that the sequel to 'Destiny' is first scheduled to launch in September 2016, however, Bungie decided to postpone the release in 2017.

Coincidental or not but the the latest announcement from the developer did confirm that players will see 'Destiny 2' next year and a huge update will out in September instead. The game developer didn't provide more details on the announced big September update but according to Tech Times, it is very likely that considering it to be 'big', the new expansion is a follow-up to 'The Taken King.' If such is the case, it will be the fourth DLC to arrive for 'Destiny' prior to the launching of Destiny 2 next year.

Moreover, a new update from Bungie's official website revealed that the said content update is under way and will arrive by end of spring. It stated that a significant increase in Light levels, additional Guardians gears to earn and use, new challenges designed for Player versus Environment oriented players will be introduced to the game. It is also deemed possible that the upcoming spring update will be free like Crimson Days.

Keep tuning in for more news and updates on next big expansion coming to Destiny in September and watch out for some announcement from Bungie on Destiny 2.
