Man Suspect Over Washington D.C. Mansion Murders Indicted with 20 Felony Charges

The man accused over killing three family members and one housemaid at a residential mansion in Washington D.C. has been indicted to the murder. The D.C. Superior Court grand jury delivered the indictment on Wednesday, according to the office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.

The WUSA9 reported, Darron Wint, was indicted to the death of the victims, Savvas Savopoulos, 46; his wife, Amy Savopoulos, 47; their son Philip Savopoulos, 10; and housemaid, Veralicia Figueroa, 57, were murdered in May 2015. He has been charged with first-degree murder while armed, burglary, kidnapping, extortion, arson and theft, for the said murders.

The indictment stated that he kidnapped and held captive the victims on their residential mansion as well as stole and extorted $40,000. He killed all four victims and burned the mansion afterwards. As the fire authorities respond to the burning home, they recovered the remains of the victims, ABC News reported.

Investigators able to link Wint to the killings after his DNA were found on pizza which he ordered to the house while he held the Savopoulos family and Figueroa captive inside the mansion, according to CBS News. Wint, 35-years old was arrested while on his girlfriend's Brooklyn apartment through a massive multi-state manhunt.

According to the prosecutors, Darron Wint, who was also known as Daron has a total of 20 felony charges, including 12 counts of first-degree murder while armed. Because the first-degree murder charges are specified with "aggravating circumstances", Wint faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole if he's convicted. The first-degree murder charges each carries a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday on the indictment. Authorities also said the investigation into the murders continues. Since the case first gained national prominence, authorities have said they are trying to determine who else may have been involved in the murders.
