Super Mario Maker has received many themes from various supporters of the game in the past. Now, another company looks to imprint their share on the highly customizable title, namely Pokemon. As the franchise's anniversary is up, a tribute is bound to happen for only a noble purpose.
According to The Verge, Nintendo's successful Super Mario Maker recently announced its latest addition to the mix, one that adheres to the 20th anniversary of the entire Pokemon franchise. A new event course that was made especially for the said occasion is reported to give players the chance to unlock three Pokemon classic outfits with a series of red and blue sound effects.
Moreover, as per Cinema Blend, the included Pokemon are the rather irresistibly adorable Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Charmander from the very first batch of the Pokemon saga. It can be remembered that it was back in 1996 when the aforementioned Pokemon were witnessed and players will be able to unlock the said costumes under different situations within the course. Bulbasaur spawns after Mario bumps into a box, Squirtle from a mystery mushroom and later on within the level of the course, Squirtle will morph into Charmander.
Oddly as it sounds, noted by Christian Post, Charmander will not be resistant to fire in the franchise. Also, instead of the usual Super Mario sound effects, the Pokemon video game scoring will be the ones used for the particular title.
Super Mario Maker, in a nutshell, is one title that permits players to customize stages of their choosing. For the particular Pokemon expansion, the possibility of having more characters based on the Pokemon series are expected but no word from Nintendo has ever been disclosed for fans to withhold. So far, the already made available free-to-download update has sold over one million copies within the United States territory alone and sums up over 3.34 million around the globe.
