‘Jurassic World 2’ set for June 2018 release; Bryce Dallas Howard teases a “different” Claire in sequel

'Jurassic World 2' is an upcoming science-fiction action-adventure film scheduled to be released on June 22, 2018. It is intended as the second installment in the rebooted trilogy for the 'Jurassic Park' cinematic series. Bryce Dallas Howard, who played lead protagonist Claire Dearing, revealed that her character will be much different in the sequel.

According to Flickering Myth, Howard revealed that her character Claire will be a totally different person in the upcoming sequel. She will be reprising her role as Claire Dearing alongside Chris Pratt's Owen Grady.

In the first film, 'Jurassic World', Claire was introduced as a Jurassic World operations manager who was high-strung and a workaholic. Although she is devoted to her job as a park manager and is very good at it, she can come off as cold, aloof and ultimately unsympathetic. Claire eventually experiences a change of heart later in the film.

According to another article by The Independent, Claire was criticized for wearing heels while running around in the dinosaur-infested jungle. Audiences pointed out that the film was slightly sexist and they could have allowed the character to take the heels off and did some action without the risk of tripping. Howard explained that the choice of footwear was crucial to the character's developing story arc.

She said, "Claire is a different person now. The person she is at the end of the [first] movie is not the person she was in the beginning. Her armor of sorts was that white, pristine outfit with heels in a very corporate environment and stuff, and the chick at the end - totally different. So yeah... it better not be heels."

The first film, 'Jurassic World', was co-written and directed by Colin Trevorrow. It was set two decades after the events of 'Jurassic Park' and took place in the fictional island of Isla Nublar off the Pacific coast of Central America. It was released on June 12, 2015 in the United States and grossed a whopping $1.6 billion at the international box office.

Trevorrow is reportedly not returning to helm the sequel. According to Bloody Disgusting, Juan Antonio Bayona is rumored to be Trevorrow's replacement although no official confirmation has been made just yet. The Spanish director is best known for his work on the 2007 horror film 'The Orphanage' as well as the 2012 drama film 'The Impossible'.

'Jurassic World 2' is an upcoming science-fiction action-adventure film scheduled to be released on June 22, 2018. It may feature the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard as Owen and Claire, respectively.
