An internal file which is supposedly meant for Samsung employees only has been leaked online, revealing the changelogs the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update would bring to Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge devices. These include Doze, Now On Tap, App Permissions and more.
Tech Times stated on its article that Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expected to arrive on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in the following weeks. With this, a copy of the internal document which talks about the new Marshmallow features and how these work has surfaced online
Based on the leaked file, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones should expect a new feature called the Doze Mode which helps save the smartphone's battery life by setting the device into a deep sleep state when it is inactive. In this mode, the apps are stopped from running in the background and the phone will only wake up the moment the user receives an SMS message or a phone call.
Another is the Google Now on Tap feature. This will give the users search results based on the content that are displayed on the screen. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow is also expected to bring the App Permission, wherein users can approve permissions for the apps installed on their handsets on a permission-by-permission basis. A new collection of emoji will also be added upon updating their smartphones.
After the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are updated to Google's latest OS, the lock screen clock will be placed at the center of the screen. The lock screen icons are also expected to have more colors. Aside from that, the In-App Browser will be added and users of these devices can soon open links within the messaging app. The Power Saving Mode will also turn grey when the notifications on the device are activated.
When the update lands on the smartphone, S6 edge's screen will get a support for the MIDI audio protocol, plus dynamic audio and video rendering and synchronization.
For reference, Android Community reported that Android 6.0 Marshmallow for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge rolled out in Poland after it had hit devices in South Korea. The T-Mobile variant of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge also got the software update before it reaches the US.
International Business Times stated that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow is also now available for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge units in Europe. But in case users haven't received any notification, they can manually check the update by going to Settings > About device > System Updates > Check for update.
Now that most Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices started receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow, users can expect the version 6.0.1 to arrive next. It may be a minor update, but the next version also bring new features and several bug fixes to the system. Reports have it that Samsung is already beta testing the firmware on the aforementioned devices.
