‘Avengers: Infinity War’: Major death occurs in Captain America‘Civil War’; Secondary characters to take lead in MCU’s Phase 4

'Avengers: Infinity War' is a two-part installment in the MCU's Phase Three. It is said to focus on secondary characters who will take the lead as a new team of superheroes in the MCU's Phase Four. A major death is speculated to occur in the upcoming 'Captain America: Civil War' ahead of the Avengers films.

According to Nano News, the upcoming back-to-back installment of 'Avengers: Infinity War' will put more focus on secondary characters as much as the original lead protagonists. The Russo Brothers admitted that the films will create newer story arcs for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Four and will give rise to a new team of superheroes.

Joe Russo said, "It's cyclical. Some New Avengers in phase 4 are going to become prominent and then maybe some Avengers might not be around anymore... I want to see some storytelling from some of the secondary characters".

The directorial duo previously revealed that they would have a total of 67 key characters in the new films but later clarified that the number was an exaggeration. Nevertheless, the new 'Avengers' films will feature a massive cast that includes important central protagonists as well as minor characters.

It was speculated that Chris Evans' Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America will be killed off in the earlier release, 'Captain America: Civil War', before 'Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1' debuts in theaters on May 4, 2018. According to Geek, insiders revealed that Captain America will die in Crossbones' hands by the end of 'Civil War' as was told in the original Marvel comic books.

Fans of the comic books pointed out that it wasn't actually Crossbones who killed off Cap but a brainwashed Sharon Carter. Cap's friend and ally Bucky Barnes a.k.a. The Winter Soldier then hunts down Crossbones and almost kills him.

According to MoviePilot, Bucky takes over the role of Captain America after Steve Rogers' demise. It was rumored that Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes in the MCU, was already fitted with a Captain America costume.

'Avengers: Infinity War' is an upcoming two-part action and science-fiction film in MCU's Phase Three. It is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo based on the comic book by Jack Kirby. Part one will be released on May 4, 2018 while part two is slated for May 3, 2019.
