LAPD Officer Arrested: Miguel Schiappapietra Detained for Allegedly Committing Lewd Acts on Underage Children

Miguel Schiappapietra, a Los Angeles police officer was arrested for allegedly commiting lewd acts on two children under 14, authorities said on Tuesday, as reported by City News. Schiappapietra was off duty when the arrest was made. Schiappapietra has been on the force for six years.

Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said the officer is accused of inviting the two alleged victims into his home in the Castaic area and then sexually assaulting them.Whitmore did not know if the minors were male or female, but said the crime occurred on the same day as his arrest.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed that Schiappapietra was arrested Saturday morning but would not elaborate on the exact nature of the crimes or what, if any, relationship the 28-year-old officer had done to the victims.

The case is being investigated by the Sheriff's Special Victims Unit, and could be charged as early as Tuesday. Schiappapietra was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station and held in lieu of $100,000.

Schiappapietra was most recently assigned to the Foothill patrol area. He is now on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal LAPD investigation as well as the ongoing criminal matter, news reports said.
