A man from Florida was arrested after he tossed an alligator through a Wendy's Drive-thru in Palm Beach County. The said man was charged with assault and illegally possessing of the said animal. His father also claims his son was a good man and was only playing a prank.
According to Yahoo News, Joshua James, 24 years old was arrested on Monday and was indicted to assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, petty theft and illegally possessing an alligator. James tossed a 3.5-foot alligator on Wendy's drive thru at Palm Beach County in October.
Nicholas Guerin, the Wildlife officer reported, James drove his truck and pulled up for his order in October 11. After the server handed over his ordered drink, James threw the 3-and-a-half foot alligator through the drive-thru window. No reported injured on the incident. Guerin took care of the alligator and released it into the wild.
James admitted he just found the alligator on Southern Boulevard and decided to pick it up, WP TV reported. The man took his initial court appearance on Tuesday morning. Judge banned James from coming to all of Wendy's restaurants and having contact and possessing animals. He was also ordered to take a mental health evaluation and banning him to possess weapons.
His father, Ed James, who bonded his son to be released in jail on Tuesday afternoon said, James was a kind man and loves nature. "He wouldn't do anything to intentionally hurt anybody or destroy anybody's property," he said, Sun Sentinel quoted. He explained the incident with the alligator was just a prank played by his son.
With the use of a security camera, officials track down James' whereabouts, where they spotted him nearby 7-Eleven. The animal wildlife officials came to the store, safely captured the alligator and was returned to into a nearby canal. The said animal was not reportedly hurt during the incident.
