'X-Force' Movie: Cable's possible appearance in 'Deadpool 2' might pave the way for team's story; Ryan Reynolds says its a priority

Marvel's witty-mouthed anti-hero Deadpool is racking up major plus points with his creatively aggressive strategy to promote his title movie. With "Deadpool" right around the corner, Ryan Reynolds is looking prospectively at another superhero movie project. And no, he's not talking about a "Deadpool" sequel. Rather, he's planning to gather 'round Deadpool's friends for an "X-Force" movie.

Reynolds has been very candid about the prospects of an "X-Force" movie. In an interview with German news outlet FILMSTARTS, Reynolds expressed his intention to bring the "X-Force" to the big screen.

"There's so much material to mine in just the X-Men universe," Reynolds said. "In the future, if we're doing a bunch more Deadpool movies, we're really going to explore the X-Men a lot. We'll see. And maybe X-Force - X-Force is my priority. I really want to get that in."

The X-Force is a team of superheroes commonly associated with the X-Men. While the X-Men is predominantly about protecting humans from evil mutants, the X-Force's mission is to eliminate mutants who terrorize fellow mutants. Another thing that would give the X-Force a different family portrait compared to the X-Men is that the former doesn't play quite as nice as the latter.

Bringing an "X-Force" movie to the big screen soon is not such a far-fetched idea. Several X-Force members have already suited up in the movies, including Deadpool himself and Psylocke, who will be introduced in "X-Men: Apocalypse." Other X-Force members, such as Archangel and Nightcrawler, will also appear in "Apocalypse."

All we need now is the X-Force's original team leader Cable, Cyclop's son from the future, and all is good to go.

Ryan Reynolds told the New Zealand Herald that Cable may appear in "Deadpool 2."

"If Cable could appear in a sequel, and it's him and Deadpool entertainingly going at each other with all the ammo they've got," Reynolds chimed.

He added that having Deadpool and Cable in one film would lead to a storyline that could spawn a possible "X-Force" project.

The idea of an "X-Force" film has been up for a while now. According to IGN, comic book creator Rob Liefeld praised an "X-Force" screenplay written by Jeff Wadlow in 2013. Wadlow is credited for penning "Kick-Ass 2."

Following "X-Men: Apocalypse," a slew of "X-Men" movie are slated for release. Marvel has already announced a line-up that includes "Gambit," "New Mutants" and a third "Wolverine."
