Former Eagles player and now Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy has been alleged of being part of a night club brawl. A video of the supposed fight has been released and the athlete's case is now being reviewed by the Philadelphia District Court.
In a report by CBS, McCoy along with three others, identified as former NFL running back Curtis Brinkley, former college receiver Tamarcus Porter, and Christoper Henderson, are alleged of assaulting three off-duty police officers after arguing over the purchase of four bottles of champagne.
The incident reportedly took place at around 2:45 in the morning on Sunday at the Recess Lounge. As per witness accounts, the three off-duty cops, one of whom is a sergeant, ordered multiple bottles of champagne when one of the men from the group of McCoy grabbed a bottle from one of the cop's hands. That led to a confrontation which eventually resulted in a brawl, 6ABC reported.
One of the three police officials was knocked to the ground. According to ESPN, McCoy's group punched, kicked and stomped on his head and body multiple times. One of the three officers and security guards of the club broke the fight and all of the involved in the brawl were removed from the establishment.
The police officer who was attacked by the four men had broken ribs, a broken nose, a laceration to his right eye, and a sprained thumb. The officer who tried and break up the fight on the other hand, suffered from a laceration on his right eye that required stitches. He is now being treated for possible skull fracture.
The result of the investigation that was already sent to the District Attorney's Office is now recommended to be criminally charged for aggravated assault.
The officers involved will reportedly not face charges and the arrest warrants are expected to be issued within the week.
Lt. John Stanford of Philadelphia Police said in a statement, "Nothing should amount to this kind of incident where you have someone going to the ground and have any individual stomping a person over a bottle of champagne. It makes no sense whatsoever."
A statement from the Buffalo Bills was also released on Monday saying they are aware of the reports involving McCoy and that they are still in the process of gathering more information.
