Samsung has finally released the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow beta to Galaxy S5 phones. Per listing of You Mobile, the device has the highest number of models across the globe to receive the upgrade. These models will get a bunch of new features and improvements on top of the surprised Samsung Protection Program coverage no matter how old the device is.
Samsung Galaxy S5 owners have a lot to thank for as the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow beta has begun rolling out in South Korea. Before the official over-the-air (OTA) update, Samsung normally releases beta versions of software to test the device's performance while running it. However, it remains a mystery though if Samsung can make it to its promised first quarter of 2016 release with barely two months left for test and approval.
A total of 36 Galaxy S5 models will get the update. There are SM - G900F, SM- G900A, SM - G900H, SM - G900I, SM - G900K, SM - G900L, SM - G900M, SM - G900MD, SM - G900P, SM - G900R4, SM - G900R6, SM - G900R7, SM - G900S, SM - G900T, SM - G900V, SM - G900W8, SM - G901F Plus, SM - G906K LTE-A, SM - G906L, SM - G906S, SM - G900FQ, SM - G870F Active, SM - G870W Active, SM - G900FD Duos, SM - G9006W, SM - G9009W, SC - 02G, SC - 04F, SCL23, SM - G9008W, SM - G903F (Neo), SM - G9006V, SM - G9009D, SM - G903M (Neo), SM - G800R4 (Mini) and SM - G800H (Mini Duos).
Samsung is reportedly done with integrating the TouchWiz user interface with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and goes on to test the software. Testing usually last about two weeks to one month. If found to be good, official release will begin.
On top of the features that come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, good news for Samsung Galaxy S5 owners since the device is still covered by Samsung Protection Program. Even after the warranty expires, it still covers accidental damage due to poor handling and damages caused electrical and mechanical failures.
