The fans asked, and the Game of Thrones stars answered. The moment was during the 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards night. As the cast of George R.R. Martin's saga walked down that red carpet, not a few spilled the beans about what fans can expect from season 6.
In an interview posted by Games Radar, Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenarys Targaryen, promises that the saga will enter into unknown territory that will blow everyone's mind. She describes it as "huge...epic...insane." The filming on the set was so intense that the grueling work hours "almost killed" the cast and crew.
Quoted by the same website, Maisie Williams hints that her character, young assassin Arya Stark, will still remain blind.
But the big twist might finally come for Sansa Stark, Arya's more ladylike older sister whose beauty had been abused and raped by the villains on the show, namely the late King Geoffrey and Ramsay Bolton, the other bastard of Winterfell. In an interview quoted by Morning News USA, actress Sophie Turner enthuses that Sansa will finally stop being a victim and be a fighter to reclaim her respect and everything else that had been stolen from her.
Turner says, "It's her really coming into her own ... It was amazing because the past five season, it feels like it's been building up to that. You can only suffer so much before she finally gets her, the respect that she deserves."
More intriguing in the same interview were Turner's hints that characters from the East will finally meet those from the West. That could mean anything from Daenarys and her loyal allies, Ser Jorah and Tyrion, finally crossing over into Westeros to meet the Starks and the Lannisters. Turner says that these "characters' paths intertwine this season."
Will the Mother of Dragons meet and fall in love with the resurrected Lord of the Night's Watch? Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, nixes one favorite fan plot line. Morning News USA quotes him as saying that the season 6 opening will prove that Jon Snow is really dead.
With the numerous "massive ... shocks" that this season will trigger, according to BGR, Jon Snow's permanent death may be the hardest one of all.
