A pro-rape pick-up artist named Roosh V plans to hold international meetups on February 6. More than 50,000 people have signed a petition calling for a ban on these events.
Daryush Valizadeh, a self-proclaimed Neo-masculinist and author of anti-feminist books, is organizing a meetup for his followers worldwide on February 6. More popularly known as Roosh V, Valizadeh said that he will be holding 165 tribal meetings in 43 countries, reported Express.
Roosh V sees the February 6 meetup as the start of regular events for men who share his beliefs. The pick-up artist believes that women are inferior to men and that rape should be legal in private properties.
According to Roosh V's website, fellow tribesmen would assemble between 8:00 to 8:20 PM in designated areas before they move to the final meeting place. The meetups will be held in multiple countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Spain, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Belgium, Cambodia, Bulgaria, China, France, Colombia, Czech Republic, Finland, Philippines, Thailand, and more.
Several feminist groups have reacted against the meetup and started a petition to ban Roosh V's events. Cat Boyd posted a petition on 38Degrees, prompting the Scottish government to ban Roosh V who is promoting rape. The petition described Roosh V's beliefs and actions as promoting hate speech and a threat to half the cities' population.
The Guardian reported that over 50,000 people have signed the petition to stop the meetups of Roosh V and his followers. There is also a Facebook petition against Roosh V saying that women haters are not allowed in Glasgow. Protest groups plan to interrupt the meetings in Glasgow and other areas.
Roosh V wrote in his book that rape should be considered legal under specific conditions. He justified his views by saying that it will give more protection to women. Yet, more statements in his written materials show his misogynistic beliefs. He described women today as narcissistic and unreliable.
Several people have called on the UK Home Secretary Theresa May to ban Roosh V from going to the country. Meanwhile, Roosh V said that he had no plans to cancel the scheduled meetings and that they will not give in to intimidations.
