Prolific producer Dick Wolf has inked a new five-year deal with NBC Universal. Wolf’s extended contract with the network also forged the renewal of two dramas, Law & Order SVU and Chicago Med.

Crime procedural, SVU as well as medical drama, Chicago Med have been granted new season pickups and are now officially a part of the 2017-2018 season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Both series will now join previously renewed Chicago Fire and Chicago PD.

SVU actress Mariska Hargitay expressed her feelings via Twitter over the network’s announcement.

“So honored 2 have another season to bring u #SVU.We r proud of the work we do and especially grateful 2 our incredible fans#ThankYOU #SVU18,” she enthused.

Wolf, who has already marked a territory on TV dramas, will be staying with the network until 2020. One of his upcoming project is an unscripted series titled “Law & Order: You the Jury” which hails from Universal Television.

NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt praised Wolf in a statement following the renewal of his contract, Deadline reports.

"Dick Wolf is a without a doubt one of the greatest producers in the history of dramatic television," he said.

"The Law & Order legacy would have been enough to set him apart from all the rest, but the Chicago franchise now kicks him into the stratosphere. He has been a defining voice of NBC for over a generation, and he is most welcome at this company forever."

Wolf responded to Greenblatt’s message, sharing that his decision to stay also rooted from his amazing partnership with the NBC head.

"Staying was really a foregone conclusion. My partnership with Bob has been the best relationship I’ve ever had with the head of a network,” he said.

New winter episodes of Law & Order: SVU and Chicago Med air every week on NBC.
