Wrongful death lawsuit against Caitlyn Jenner dismissed; 'Modest amount' of settlement reached

A wrongful death lawsuit filed by the stepchildren of the victim in February 2015 traffic collision against Olympic Gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner was dismissed earlier this week after a settlement between both parties was reached.

The lawsuit filed by Dana Redmond and William Howe for the death of their stepmother, Kim Howe, ended as a request for dismissal was requested on Tuesday. According to USA Today, the dismissal was confirmed by Jenner's attorney, Philipp Boesch Jr.

The 69 year-old Howe died during an incident on Pacific Coast Highway in February 2015 after Jenners's sports utility vehicle crashed and pushed Howe's car into the other lane where she was struck by an oncoming Hummer. According to Q13 Fox, the sheriff's investigation found that Caitlyn Jenner, who was born as Bruce Jenner, was driving at unsafe speed for the traffic condition at the time.

However, as reported by ET Online, no charges were filed against Jenner as Los Angeles County District Attorney claimed that Jenner was travelling at a slightly slower than speed than the speed limit in the area at the time. They claim that Jenner was driving "minimally slower than victim".

The amount for the settlement was not revealed however, sources close to the case stated that it was settled for a "very modest amount" which was paid by Jenner's insurance company. The recently settled lawsuit was filed in May 2015.

Aside from the lawsuit against Redmond and Howe, Jenner also previously settled another case with another car driver, Jessica Steindorff who she rear-ended and was also injured in the collision. The terms of their settlement were revealed.

The only remaining lawsuit that Jenner is set to face is by the family in the Hummer in the collision claiming that Jenner was "inattentive and traveling at unsafe speed for traffic conditions,". More details on the litigation process in the current case will be reported as soon as details are disclosed.
