Last October, an Egyptian actress made headlines when she spoke in support of porn in the otherwise conservative Muslim country. Entissar publicly defended porn films on a popular TV show when she made a comment about watching such films. When asked what her views were of adult films, Entissar said it was okay for young individuals to resort to watching porn films especially those who cannot "afford the high costs of marriage." At the same time, she made a comment for those who are afraid of committing a sexual sin "prohibited by religion." According to the 44-year-old actress, they can "cool down" by watching these films.
Shortly after, Entissar found herself facing a lawsuit for the comments she had made. The lawsuit was filed by several concerned parties. They claimed that the actress promoted immorality and depravity with the comments she left related to porn. A month later, the trial opened in November and was the latest scoop for those in the small film industry in Egypt. If found guilty for debauchery, Entissar could be facing up to a year in prison.
Entissar spoke on "Nafsana", a TV show that she co-hosts on Al Qahera Wal Nas. She said that such films are "useful for men" and cited those who have no experience in "pre-marriage sex." When interviewed about the comments she made, Entissar said that these were taken out of context. She was then asked if she was scared of any impending lawsuits related to these remarks, to which she was confident she would be acquitted.
On Sunday, an Egyptian court junked the lawsuit filed against the actress. The Nasr City Misdemeanour Court in Cairo ruled that the lawyer who filed the lawsuit against Entissar did not suffer any "personal and criminal damage" from the actress. She has not yet responded to the update of the lawsuit against her.
