Legendary boxer Mike Tyson to make his MMA debut as a playable character in ‘EA Sports UFC 2’

Game publisher, Electronic Arts, has confirmed that Mike Tyson will be joining the playable roster of the upcoming sequel for "EA Sports UFC." According to the company, two versions of the legendary boxer will be available for gamers.

Aside from making the announcement, Electronic Arts also released a trailer showing off Tyson in action inside the digital Octagon. The clip also features the two different versions of the playable character.

The first version of the character will be "Iron" Mike Tyson, which is based on the early years of the athlete or his rise to fame during the 1980s. The second version will be "Legacy" Mike Tyson, which shows the boxer during the latter years of his career. This is also the same Tyson with a tattoo on his face.

Both versions of the fighter will be available for the gamers after unlocking them in the game, according to UFC.com. But, for those who will pre-order "EA Sports UFC 2," they will get instant access to the character on the day of its official launch.

Brian Hayes, the creative director of the game, explained that the developers chose to include Tyson in the upcoming title due to his status as a fighter. He noted that when people talk about the most devastating and impressive fighters in sports, the name of the former undisputed heavyweight champion usually comes to mind.

As for Tyson, he said he felt honored after he was asked to be featured in the game as one of its characters. As a mixed martial arts enthusiast, he said he would love to see himself go up against the other prominent fighters inside the Octagon.

"As a huge fan, I'm honored to be part of EA Sports and explore the world of mixed martial arts," he said in a press release according to MMAFighting.com. "I follow UFC very closely and it's going to be very cool to see how I would stack up against these amazing MMA athletes."

"EA Sports UFC 2" is scheduled to come out on March 15. It will be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 systems.
